Diamond Circle - Hverfjall Crater

We drove from Hverir to the Hverfjall Crater. We didn't know what to expect from that, but as neither of us had seen a crater before we were excited. It certainly didn't disappoint. It was a steep walk up the side, but once you got to the top, the view was spectacular. I've never seen anything like it. You could walk all the way around the top of the crater, but we just walked a little ways around. The pictures don't do it justice at all.

If you look closely you can see the path up to the top of the crater.

That's the little Soul parked next to the camper.

Looking back at the parking lot from almost the top of the crater.

John having a contemplative moment. The crater was remarkably peaceful.

We could see a plane heading toward the local airport. Flights come in from Reykjavik, for example.

I liked this van. It belonged to a tour company.
