The view from our picnic area was pretty nice as well, despite the rain.
It stayed rainy as we drove.
Big, fancy hotel
So green
More cottages
A blue roof instead of the usual red.
But once we arrived it had cleared up. Not surprisingly Geysir was very busy and touristy. It was pretty neat though.
"Little Geysir"
The big geysir
Off it goes! Unfortunately It's hard to see in photos.
Where the geysir erupts. If you watch long enough you start to see the signals that it is about the erupt. It's fascinating to watch.
After it erupted a couple of times we moved to the opposite side to watch. You can get much closer to the area where it erupts from. Turns out that is the "business end" of the geysir!
It blew a couple of times. and we stood there for one final eruption. Wow! It was a big one. We were totally soaked. We looked like we'd just gotten out of the shower. It was so much fun! We could see as it erupted that we were going to get wet. It was like a giant wall of water fell from the sky. Because I could see it coming I was able to protect my camera a bit. We were very wet. I loved it though!
